Nb RAMYSHOME |
Welcome to Roger and Maureen Yorke’s Sailing Home
This website will relate the story of Nb. Ramyshome's new adventure cruising the canals and rivers of England and Wales. This time around we aim to say more about the canals and the landscape that includes them. In 2010 the journey will take us first from Devizes to Bristol. Turning around there we will head to Reading and the Thames. In September we go north to Burton on Trent and then hopefully towards Manchester. After that plans are a little more fluid.

The original crew including Snowy |
In 2005 we set out on our first big adventure circumnavigating England, and a little of Wales, by canal and river. After 2 1/2 years, in the Autumn of 2007 Ramyshome was moored up near Loughborough and the crew headed off for another grand tour through Hong Kong, Brisbane Australia and most of New Zealand. The need to refill the coffers brought us to Foxhangers Wharf on the Kennet & Avon Canal where Roger worked for the hire boat company Foxhangers Canal Holidays, helping those poor souls without a boat of their own to enjoy our canals. There we added a new crew member, a hound of uncertain breeding called Molly. And there too we became famous, appearing on two BBC programmes, the Sunday Politics Show and Countryfile. As we re-acquaint ourselves with a way of life we love so much and re-discover those special places we found the first time we hope to provide readers with a flavour of a watery lifestyle. |

You can read about our "Journey so far", see the whole system on the map in "We are here" and view our "Photo gallery". The page entitled "Autumn 07" is the story of our fabulous journey away from Ramyshome to Hong Kong, New Zealand and Brisbane, Australia. "2010" is where our new story begins. |
